Orange Initiative

About the Program

Launched in 2017, the Orange Initiative (OI) aims to empower vulnerable communities, including persons with disabilities, victims of landmines and Agent Orange/dioxin, and orphans. The program also seeks to raise public awareness and foster collective action to support individuals in overcoming adversity and achieving greater inclusion in society.

One of its flagship activities is OI Run (2017–2021), organized in partnership with the Ho Chi Minh City Marathon. The event brings together persons with disabilities, victims of Agent Orange and unexploded ordnance (UXO), and the broader community to run side by side.

More than just a race, OI Run celebrates resilience, encourages participation, and mobilizes community support—helping create a more inclusive and compassionate society.

Run with Persons with Disabilities – OI Run

OI Run is a signature initiative under the Orange Initiative, jointly developed by HPDF and HPC and launched in 2016. It was designed to enhance public awareness and strengthen community support for the resilience and ongoing challenges faced by persons with disabilities, as well as victims of Agent Orange and unexploded ordnance.

Held annually from 2017 to 2021, the program enabled participants from these communities to join the Ho Chi Minh City Marathon alongside other runners. Their presence not only inspired the public but also added meaningful social value to the marathon, transforming it into a platform for inclusion, empathy, and shared humanity.
